Hallo Allemaal.
Ik ben weer op pad geweest. Nu met Joyce uit Zoetermeer.
Na zoeken naar iets leuks wat we allebei leuk vonden kwamen we uit op Edinburgh in Schotland.
Donderdag 15 Maart
Na haar werk kwam Joyce al naar mij toe. We moesten de volgende dag vroeg op. Het zou een lange dag worden.
Leuk was de voorpret. Helaas bleek dat het erg koud in Edinburgh was. Net zo koud als hier! Onze tassen waren gepakt Geen koffers maar handbagage. Veel Makkelijker. Niets in te checken.
Vrijdag 16 maart
Vroeg op om 3u45 ging de wekker!! We hadden wel wat gedronken. Ons ontbijt had ik de avond ervoor al gemaakt. Joyce reed de auto naar het parkeerterrein. Daar stond de bus die ons naar Schiphol departures bracht .
We moesten om 5u20 op Schiphol zijn. Onze easyjetvlucht ging om 7u20.
Joyce had ons al ingechecked en we zaten naast elkaar met het looppad tussen ons in. Zo hadden we meer beenruimte. Slim van haar!
Vertek was om 7u20 en aankomst was 7u55. ja ja Schotland loopt een uur achter.
We hadden bus 100 airlink naar ons hotel. eindpunt station Waverlyplace. Vandaar was het 5 min lopen naar ons hotel Apex Waterlooplace.
Het was koud in Edinburg. Ijzig koud zelfs. Er lag nog sneeuw op de heuvels rond de stad. Maar goed....... Niemand kan het weer regelen.
Eerst naar het hotel. Inchecken en pakken uit de bagage wat we nodig hadden.
Daarna op pad. We gingen een wandeling proberen te doen van 2u max. Al snel veranderde de plannen en gingen we de hop on hop off route lopen. En onderweg bekeken we wat de moeite waard zou zijn.
We kwamen uit op the royal mile. EEN lange winkelstraat met winkels, veel souveniershops en pubs.
Via the Northbridge kwamen we bij Edinburg castle . Ja van de tattoo!
Natuurlijk het kasteel in. Daar kwamen we ook voor. Wat een pracht en praal. We deden de hele middag over het kasteel.
Erg indrukwekkend waren de Schotse kroonjuwelen. En de echte lagen er he! Geen replica!
Het kasteel is enorm . De geschiedenis spreekt me aan. Als gebouwen eens praten konden!
De kroonjuwelen. Honours of Scotland.
The Castle gaste,s The Argyle battery. Dat zijn de kanonnen De uitzichten over de stad. Soms wat minder door de vele sneeuwbuien etc.
The gouvernor,s hous. e National warmuseum . st Margarethschapel Mons meg, Een enorm kanon The dog cemetery. Waar alle koninklijke en onderscheidden honden liggen .
TYhe argyle tower.
Ook heeft hier 9 maanden het lichaam van Mary of Lorraine, ega van James V gelegen. Voordat het in Rheims begraven mocht worden. Zij was de moeder van Mary Queen of Scots.
The great hall met zijn wapentuig en harnasssen.
The Scottisch national warmuseum.
Etc etc etc etc Er is zoveel te zien. En de toegangsprijs was prachtig. ongeveer 17 gbp.
Trouwens het geld wat je hier nodig hebt is de Engelse pond. De Schotse pond hebben we nooit nodig gehad. Hoef je ook niet te halen als je geld nodig hebt. Alleen Engelse ponden dus.!
We hadden de hele middag nodig voor het kasteel.
Na het bezoek gingen we naar de shop voor scones met jam en clotted cream. Heerlijk.We gingen eer naar de Royal mile. Onderweg natuurlijk shops kijken etc We hadden coffee in een burittobar.
Onderweg zagen we wel vaak bedelaars liggen op straat. Ingepakt tegen de kou. Ook heel gek. We zagen mensen lopen in T-shirt , op blote voeten in korte broek. Elke dag weer. Leek wel of ze last van de kou hadden.
Eind van de middag tegen etenstijd gingen we weer naar het hotel. Tas uitpakken en uitrusten We gingen eten in de Guildford arms. Een pub. Echt een leuke pub. Lekker gegeten.
Na het eten terug naar het hotel. We gingen redelijk op tijd naar bed, Het was een lange dag. Met sneeuwbuien. Het leek wel of de sneeuw ophield als we binnen waren. En het begon weer als we naar buiten gingen!
En morgen gaan we verder met de lopende route van de hop on hop off bus.
Zaterdag 17 Maart. St Patricksday.
Na een goede nachtrust en het ontbijt begonnen we weer met de ,,looproute,,
We liepen naar Carlton hill. Trappen op!! Met het Nelsonmonument. En het city observatory.
Daar boven was het een gure storm. Ik maakte een kleine video met Joce in de hoofdrol en in de wind met sneeuvlokken. Grijs grauw weer helaas.
Trappen trappen Lopen Lopen. We kwamen langs St Andrews house. Een regerings gebouw.
Vlak bij Holyroodhouse ligt het nieuwe Schotse parlementsgebouw. Niet de moeite waard!
We liepen door naar het niet vergelegen winterverblijf van de koningin. Holyroodhouse Daar bezochten we de prive vertrekken. Overal uitleg .
Nergens mocht je foto,s maken. ahum ahum ahum. Prachtig en zeker de moeite waard.
Na Holyroodhouse gingen we naar de dichtbij gelegen Queensgallery.
Prachtig die schilderijen. De geschiedenis druipt er vanaf. The great hall. met 63 schilderijen. Fenomenaal.
Ook hier duurde het een flinke tijd voordat je alles gezien hebt.
Hierna weer de weg op en verder. Canongate waar we koffie met pecancake namen.
Langs Canongate weer naar de royalmile. Dat is JAAAA!!! een mile. We liepen nu op een ander stuk.
We kwamen langs het National museum of Schotland. Viel een beetje tegen. Wel gratis.
Onderweg kwamen een stanbeeld tegen van een hondje. Dat bleef zijn baas trouw na de dood van zijn baas. Het is beroemd geworden. I
n Australia hebbeb ze ook zo iets. Dog on the tuckerbox. De pub etc in de omgeving verwees telkens naar die hongd Grappig Greyfrtiars bobby. Zoek maar op
Via Grassmarket liepen we naar Johnsonterrace. Telkens door de sneeuwbuien en gure wind. Lawnmarket.
Het liep alweer naar het eind van de dag. Terug naar hotel. effe uitrusten.
Daarna liepen we naar een pizzeria voor een pizza Calzone met stiky toffeepudding. Heerlijk
We waren echt moe en blij dat we daarna weer naar het hotel konden. 96 meter terug lopen ha ha
Verders gezien? doedelzakken . mannen in t-shirt. bedelaars. Klein jochie met een doedelzak.

Vroeg op om 3u45 ging de wekker!! We hadden wel wat gedronken. Ons ontbijt had ik de avond ervoor al gemaakt. Joyce reed de auto naar het parkeerterrein. Daar stond de bus die ons naar Schiphol departures bracht .
We moesten om 5u20 op Schiphol zijn. Onze easyjetvlucht ging om 7u20.
Joyce had ons al ingechecked en we zaten naast elkaar met het looppad tussen ons in. Zo hadden we meer beenruimte. Slim van haar!
Vertek was om 7u20 en aankomst was 7u55. ja ja Schotland loopt een uur achter.
We hadden bus 100 airlink naar ons hotel. eindpunt station Waverlyplace. Vandaar was het 5 min lopen naar ons hotel Apex Waterlooplace.
Het was koud in Edinburg. Ijzig koud zelfs. Er lag nog sneeuw op de heuvels rond de stad. Maar goed....... Niemand kan het weer regelen.
Eerst naar het hotel. Inchecken en pakken uit de bagage wat we nodig hadden.
Daarna op pad. We gingen een wandeling proberen te doen van 2u max. Al snel veranderde de plannen en gingen we de hop on hop off route lopen. En onderweg bekeken we wat de moeite waard zou zijn.
We kwamen uit op the royal mile. EEN lange winkelstraat met winkels, veel souveniershops en pubs.
Via the Northbridge kwamen we bij Edinburg castle . Ja van de tattoo!
Natuurlijk het kasteel in. Daar kwamen we ook voor. Wat een pracht en praal. We deden de hele middag over het kasteel.
Erg indrukwekkend waren de Schotse kroonjuwelen. En de echte lagen er he! Geen replica!
Het kasteel is enorm . De geschiedenis spreekt me aan. Als gebouwen eens praten konden!
De kroonjuwelen. Honours of Scotland.
The Castle gaste,s The Argyle battery. Dat zijn de kanonnen De uitzichten over de stad. Soms wat minder door de vele sneeuwbuien etc.
The gouvernor,s hous. e National warmuseum . st Margarethschapel Mons meg, Een enorm kanon The dog cemetery. Waar alle koninklijke en onderscheidden honden liggen .
TYhe argyle tower.
Ook heeft hier 9 maanden het lichaam van Mary of Lorraine, ega van James V gelegen. Voordat het in Rheims begraven mocht worden. Zij was de moeder van Mary Queen of Scots.
The great hall met zijn wapentuig en harnasssen.
The Scottisch national warmuseum.
Etc etc etc etc Er is zoveel te zien. En de toegangsprijs was prachtig. ongeveer 17 gbp.
Trouwens het geld wat je hier nodig hebt is de Engelse pond. De Schotse pond hebben we nooit nodig gehad. Hoef je ook niet te halen als je geld nodig hebt. Alleen Engelse ponden dus.!
We hadden de hele middag nodig voor het kasteel.
Na het bezoek gingen we naar de shop voor scones met jam en clotted cream. Heerlijk.We gingen eer naar de Royal mile. Onderweg natuurlijk shops kijken etc We hadden coffee in een burittobar.
Onderweg zagen we wel vaak bedelaars liggen op straat. Ingepakt tegen de kou. Ook heel gek. We zagen mensen lopen in T-shirt , op blote voeten in korte broek. Elke dag weer. Leek wel of ze last van de kou hadden.
Eind van de middag tegen etenstijd gingen we weer naar het hotel. Tas uitpakken en uitrusten We gingen eten in de Guildford arms. Een pub. Echt een leuke pub. Lekker gegeten.
Na het eten terug naar het hotel. We gingen redelijk op tijd naar bed, Het was een lange dag. Met sneeuwbuien. Het leek wel of de sneeuw ophield als we binnen waren. En het begon weer als we naar buiten gingen!
En morgen gaan we verder met de lopende route van de hop on hop off bus.
Zaterdag 17 Maart. St Patricksday.
Na een goede nachtrust en het ontbijt begonnen we weer met de ,,looproute,,
We liepen naar Carlton hill. Trappen op!! Met het Nelsonmonument. En het city observatory.
Daar boven was het een gure storm. Ik maakte een kleine video met Joce in de hoofdrol en in de wind met sneeuvlokken. Grijs grauw weer helaas.
Trappen trappen Lopen Lopen. We kwamen langs St Andrews house. Een regerings gebouw.
Vlak bij Holyroodhouse ligt het nieuwe Schotse parlementsgebouw. Niet de moeite waard!
We liepen door naar het niet vergelegen winterverblijf van de koningin. Holyroodhouse Daar bezochten we de prive vertrekken. Overal uitleg .
Nergens mocht je foto,s maken. ahum ahum ahum. Prachtig en zeker de moeite waard.
Na Holyroodhouse gingen we naar de dichtbij gelegen Queensgallery.
Prachtig die schilderijen. De geschiedenis druipt er vanaf. The great hall. met 63 schilderijen. Fenomenaal.
Ook hier duurde het een flinke tijd voordat je alles gezien hebt.
Hierna weer de weg op en verder. Canongate waar we koffie met pecancake namen.
Langs Canongate weer naar de royalmile. Dat is JAAAA!!! een mile. We liepen nu op een ander stuk.
We kwamen langs het National museum of Schotland. Viel een beetje tegen. Wel gratis.
Onderweg kwamen een stanbeeld tegen van een hondje. Dat bleef zijn baas trouw na de dood van zijn baas. Het is beroemd geworden. I
n Australia hebbeb ze ook zo iets. Dog on the tuckerbox. De pub etc in de omgeving verwees telkens naar die hongd Grappig Greyfrtiars bobby. Zoek maar op
Via Grassmarket liepen we naar Johnsonterrace. Telkens door de sneeuwbuien en gure wind. Lawnmarket.
Het liep alweer naar het eind van de dag. Terug naar hotel. effe uitrusten.
Daarna liepen we naar een pizzeria voor een pizza Calzone met stiky toffeepudding. Heerlijk
We waren echt moe en blij dat we daarna weer naar het hotel konden. 96 meter terug lopen ha ha
Verders gezien? doedelzakken . mannen in t-shirt. bedelaars. Klein jochie met een doedelzak.

Hallo Allemaal.
Ik ben weer op pad geweest. Nu met Joyce uit Zoetermeer.
Na zoeken naar iets leuks wat we allebei leuk vonden kwamen we uit op Edinburgh in Schotland.
Donderdag 15 Maart
Na haar werk kwam Joyce al naar mij toe. We moesten de volgende dag vroeg op. Het zou een lange dag worden.
Leuk was de voorpret. Helaas bleek dat het erg koud in Edinburgh was. Net zo koud als hier! Onze tassen waren gepakt Geen koffers maar handbagage. Veel Makkelijker. Niets in te checken.
Vrijdag 16 maart
Vroeg op om 3u45 ging de wekker!! We hadden wel wat gedronken. Ons ontbijt had ik de avond ervoor al gemaakt. Joyce reed de auto naar het parkeerterrein. Daar stond de bus die ons naar Schiphol departures bracht .
We moesten om 5u20 op Schiphol zijn. Onze easyjetvlucht ging om 7u20.
Joyce had ons al ingechecked en we zaten naast elkaar met het looppad tussen ons in. Zo hadden we meer beenruimte. Slim van haar!
Vertek was om 7u20 en aankomst was 7u55. ja ja Schotland loopt een uur achter.
We hadden bus 100 airlink naar ons hotel. eindpunt station Waverlyplace. Vandaar was het 5 min lopen naar ons hotel Apex Waterlooplace.
Het was koud in Edinburg. Ijzig koud zelfs. Er lag nog sneeuw op de heuvels rond de stad. Maar goed....... Niemand kan het weer regelen.
Eerst naar het hotel. Inchecken en pakken uit de bagage wat we nodig hadden.
Daarna op pad. We gingen een wandeling proberen te doen van 2u max. Al snel veranderde de plannen en gingen we de hop on hop off route lopen. En onderweg bekeken we wat de moeite waard zou zijn.
We kwamen uit op the royal mile. EEN lange winkelstraat met winkels, veel souveniershops en pubs.
Via the Northbridge kwamen we bij Edinburg castle . Ja van de tattoo!
Natuurlijk het kasteel in. Daar kwamen we ook voor. Wat een pracht en praal. We deden de hele middag over het kasteel.
Erg indrukwekkend waren de Schotse kroonjuwelen. En de echte lagen er he! Geen replica!
Het kasteel is enorm . De geschiedenis spreekt me aan. Als gebouwen eens praten konden!
De kroonjuwelen. Honours of Scotland.
The Castle gaste,s The Argyle battery. Dat zijn de kanonnen De uitzichten over de stad. Soms wat minder door de vele sneeuwbuien etc.
The gouvernor,s hous. e National warmuseum . st Margarethschapel Mons meg, Een enorm kanon The dog cemetery. Waar alle koninklijke en onderscheidden honden liggen .
TYhe argyle tower.
Ook heeft hier 9 maanden het lichaam van Mary of Lorraine, ega van James V gelegen. Voordat het in Rheims begraven mocht worden. Zij was de moeder van Mary Queen of Scots.
The great hall met zijn wapentuig en harnasssen.
The Scottisch national warmuseum.
Etc etc etc etc Er is zoveel te zien. En de toegangsprijs was prachtig. ongeveer 17 gbp.
Trouwens het geld wat je hier nodig hebt is de Engelse pond. De Schotse pond hebben we nooit nodig gehad. Hoef je ook niet te halen als je geld nodig hebt. Alleen Engelse ponden dus.!
We hadden de hele middag nodig voor het kasteel.
Na het bezoek gingen we naar de shop voor scones met jam en clotted cream. Heerlijk.We gingen eer naar de Royal mile. Onderweg natuurlijk shops kijken etc We hadden coffee in een burittobar.
Onderweg zagen we wel vaak bedelaars liggen op straat. Ingepakt tegen de kou. Ook heel gek. We zagen mensen lopen in T-shirt , op blote voeten in korte broek. Elke dag weer. Leek wel of ze last van de kou hadden.
Eind van de middag tegen etenstijd gingen we weer naar het hotel. Tas uitpakken en uitrusten We gingen eten in de Guildford arms. Een pub. Echt een leuke pub. Lekker gegeten.
Na het eten terug naar het hotel. We gingen redelijk op tijd naar bed, Het was een lange dag. Met sneeuwbuien. Het leek wel of de sneeuw ophield als we binnen waren. En het begon weer als we naar buiten gingen!
En morgen gaan we verder met de lopende route van de hop on hop off bus.
Zaterdag 17 Maart. St Patricksday.
Na een goede nachtrust en het ontbijt begonnen we weer met de ,,looproute,,
We liepen naar Carlton hill. Trappen op!! Met het Nelsonmonument. En het city observatory.
Daar boven was het een gure storm. Ik maakte een kleine video met Joce in de hoofdrol en in de wind met sneeuvlokken. Grijs grauw weer helaas.
Trappen trappen Lopen Lopen. We kwamen langs St Andrews house. Een regerings gebouw.
Vlak bij Holyroodhouse ligt het nieuwe Schotse parlementsgebouw. Niet de moeite waard!
We liepen door naar het niet vergelegen winterverblijf van de koningin. Holyroodhouse Daar bezochten we de prive vertrekken. Overal uitleg .
Nergens mocht je foto,s maken. ahum ahum ahum. Prachtig en zeker de moeite waard.
Na Holyroodhouse gingen we naar de dichtbij gelegen Queensgallery.
Prachtig die schilderijen. De geschiedenis druipt er vanaf. The great hall. met 63 schilderijen. Fenomenaal.
Ook hier duurde het een flinke tijd voordat je alles gezien hebt.
Hierna weer de weg op en verder. Canongate waar we koffie met pecancake namen.
Langs Canongate weer naar de royalmile. Dat is JAAAA!!! een mile. We liepen nu op een ander stuk.
We kwamen langs het National museum of Schotland. Viel een beetje tegen. Wel gratis.
Onderweg kwamen een stanbeeld tegen van een hondje. Dat bleef zijn baas trouw na de dood van zijn baas. Het is beroemd geworden. I
n Australia hebbeb ze ook zo iets. Dog on the tuckerbox. De pub etc in de omgeving verwees telkens naar die hongd Grappig Greyfrtiars bobby. Zoek maar op
Via Grassmarket liepen we naar Johnsonterrace. Telkens door de sneeuwbuien en gure wind. Lawnmarket.
Het liep alweer naar het eind van de dag. Terug naar hotel. effe uitrusten.
Daarna liepen we naar een pizzeria voor een pizza Calzone met stiky toffeepudding. Heerlijk
We waren echt moe en blij dat we daarna weer naar het hotel konden. 96 meter terug lopen ha ha
Verders gezien? doedelzakken . mannen in t-shirt. bedelaars. Klein jochie met een doedelzak.

Hallo Allemaal.
Ik ben weer op pad geweest. Nu met Joyce uit Zoetermeer.
Na zoeken naar iets leuks wat we allebei leuk vonden kwamen we uit op Edinburgh in Schotland.
Donderdag 15 Maart
Na haar werk kwam Joyce al naar mij toe. We moesten de volgende dag vroeg op. Het zou een lange dag worden.
Leuk was de voorpret. Helaas bleek dat het erg koud in Edinburgh was. Net zo koud als hier! Onze tassen waren gepakt Geen koffers maar handbagage. Veel Makkelijker. Niets in te checken.
Vrijdag 16 maart
Vroeg op om 3u45 ging de wekker!! We hadden wel wat gedronken. Ons ontbijt had ik de avond ervoor al gemaakt. Joyce reed de auto naar het parkeerterrein. Daar stond de bus die ons naar Schiphol departures bracht .
We moesten om 5u20 op Schiphol zijn. Onze easyjetvlucht ging om 7u20.
Joyce had ons al ingechecked en we zaten naast elkaar met het looppad tussen ons in. Zo hadden we meer beenruimte. Slim van haar!
Vertek was om 7u20 en aankomst was 7u55. ja ja Schotland loopt een uur achter.
We hadden bus 100 airlink naar ons hotel. eindpunt station Waverlyplace. Vandaar was het 5 min lopen naar ons hotel Apex Waterlooplace.
Het was koud in Edinburg. Ijzig koud zelfs. Er lag nog sneeuw op de heuvels rond de stad. Maar goed....... Niemand kan het weer regelen.
Eerst naar het hotel. Inchecken en pakken uit de bagage wat we nodig hadden.
Daarna op pad. We gingen een wandeling proberen te doen van 2u max. Al snel veranderde de plannen en gingen we de hop on hop off route lopen. En onderweg bekeken we wat de moeite waard zou zijn.
We kwamen uit op the royal mile. EEN lange winkelstraat met winkels, veel souveniershops en pubs.
Via the Northbridge kwamen we bij Edinburg castle . Ja van de tattoo!
Natuurlijk het kasteel in. Daar kwamen we ook voor. Wat een pracht en praal. We deden de hele middag over het kasteel.
Erg indrukwekkend waren de Schotse kroonjuwelen. En de echte lagen er he! Geen replica!
Het kasteel is enorm . De geschiedenis spreekt me aan. Als gebouwen eens praten konden!
De kroonjuwelen. Honours of Scotland.
The Castle gaste,s The Argyle battery. Dat zijn de kanonnen De uitzichten over de stad. Soms wat minder door de vele sneeuwbuien etc.
The gouvernor,s hous. e National warmuseum . st Margarethschapel Mons meg, Een enorm kanon The dog cemetery. Waar alle koninklijke en onderscheidden honden liggen .
TYhe argyle tower.
Ook heeft hier 9 maanden het lichaam van Mary of Lorraine, ega van James V gelegen. Voordat het in Rheims begraven mocht worden. Zij was de moeder van Mary Queen of Scots.
The great hall met zijn wapentuig en harnasssen.
The Scottisch national warmuseum.
Etc etc etc etc Er is zoveel te zien. En de toegangsprijs was prachtig. ongeveer 17 gbp.
Trouwens het geld wat je hier nodig hebt is de Engelse pond. De Schotse pond hebben we nooit nodig gehad. Hoef je ook niet te halen als je geld nodig hebt. Alleen Engelse ponden dus.!
We hadden de hele middag nodig voor het kasteel.
Na het bezoek gingen we naar de shop voor scones met jam en clotted cream. Heerlijk.We gingen eer naar de Royal mile. Onderweg natuurlijk shops kijken etc We hadden coffee in een burittobar.
Onderweg zagen we wel vaak bedelaars liggen op straat. Ingepakt tegen de kou. Ook heel gek. We zagen mensen lopen in T-shirt , op blote voeten in korte broek. Elke dag weer. Leek wel of ze last van de kou hadden.
Eind van de middag tegen etenstijd gingen we weer naar het hotel. Tas uitpakken en uitrusten We gingen eten in de Guildford arms. Een pub. Echt een leuke pub. Lekker gegeten.
Na het eten terug naar het hotel. We gingen redelijk op tijd naar bed, Het was een lange dag. Met sneeuwbuien. Het leek wel of de sneeuw ophield als we binnen waren. En het begon weer als we naar buiten gingen!
En morgen gaan we verder met de lopende route van de hop on hop off bus.
Zaterdag 17 Maart. St Patricksday.
Na een goede nachtrust en het ontbijt begonnen we weer met de ,,looproute,,
We liepen naar Carlton hill. Trappen op!! Met het Nelsonmonument. En het city observatory.
Daar boven was het een gure storm. Ik maakte een kleine video met Joce in de hoofdrol en in de wind met sneeuvlokken. Grijs grauw weer helaas.
Trappen trappen Lopen Lopen. We kwamen langs St Andrews house. Een regerings gebouw.
Vlak bij Holyroodhouse ligt het nieuwe Schotse parlementsgebouw. Niet de moeite waard!
We liepen door naar het niet vergelegen winterverblijf van de koningin. Holyroodhouse Daar bezochten we de prive vertrekken. Overal uitleg .
Nergens mocht je foto,s maken. ahum ahum ahum. Prachtig en zeker de moeite waard.
Na Holyroodhouse gingen we naar de dichtbij gelegen Queensgallery.
Prachtig die schilderijen. De geschiedenis druipt er vanaf. The great hall. met 63 schilderijen. Fenomenaal.
Ook hier duurde het een flinke tijd voordat je alles gezien hebt.
Hierna weer de weg op en verder. Canongate waar we koffie met pecancake namen.
Langs Canongate weer naar de royalmile. Dat is JAAAA!!! een mile. We liepen nu op een ander stuk.
We kwamen langs het National museum of Schotland. Viel een beetje tegen. Wel gratis.
Onderweg kwamen een stanbeeld tegen van een hondje. Dat bleef zijn baas trouw na de dood van zijn baas. Het is beroemd geworden. I
n Australia hebbeb ze ook zo iets. Dog on the tuckerbox. De pub etc in de omgeving verwees telkens naar die hongd Grappig Greyfrtiars bobby. Zoek maar op
Via Grassmarket liepen we naar Johnsonterrace. Telkens door de sneeuwbuien en gure wind. Lawnmarket.
Het liep alweer naar het eind van de dag. Terug naar hotel. effe uitrusten.
Daarna liepen we naar een pizzeria voor een pizza Calzone met stiky toffeepudding. Heerlijk
We waren echt moe en blij dat we daarna weer naar het hotel konden. 96 meter terug lopen ha ha
Verders gezien? doedelzakken . mannen in t-shirt. bedelaars. Klein jochie met een doedelzak.

We kwamen uit op the royal mile. EEN lange winkelstraat met winkels, veel souveniershops en pubs.
Via the Northbridge kwamen we bij Edinburg castle . Ja van de tattoo!
Natuurlijk het kasteel in. Daar kwamen we ook voor. Wat een pracht en praal. We deden de hele middag over het kasteel.
Erg indrukwekkend waren de Schotse kroonjuwelen. En de echte lagen er he! Geen replica!
Het kasteel is enorm . De geschiedenis spreekt me aan. Als gebouwen eens praten konden!
De kroonjuwelen. Honours of Scotland.
The Castle gaste,s The Argyle battery. Dat zijn de kanonnen De uitzichten over de stad. Soms wat minder door de vele sneeuwbuien etc.
The gouvernor,s hous. e National warmuseum . st Margarethschapel Mons meg, Een enorm kanon The dog cemetery. Waar alle koninklijke en onderscheidden honden liggen .
TYhe argyle tower.
Ook heeft hier 9 maanden het lichaam van Mary of Lorraine, ega van James V gelegen. Voordat het in Rheims begraven mocht worden. Zij was de moeder van Mary Queen of Scots.
The great hall met zijn wapentuig en harnasssen.
The Scottisch national warmuseum.
Etc etc etc etc Er is zoveel te zien. En de toegangsprijs was prachtig. ongeveer 17 gbp.
Trouwens het geld wat je hier nodig hebt is de Engelse pond. De Schotse pond hebben we nooit nodig gehad. Hoef je ook niet te halen als je geld nodig hebt. Alleen Engelse ponden dus.!
We hadden de hele middag nodig voor het kasteel.
Na het bezoek gingen we naar de shop voor scones met jam en clotted cream. Heerlijk.We gingen eer naar de Royal mile. Onderweg natuurlijk shops kijken etc We hadden coffee in een burittobar.
Onderweg zagen we wel vaak bedelaars liggen op straat. Ingepakt tegen de kou. Ook heel gek. We zagen mensen lopen in T-shirt , op blote voeten in korte broek. Elke dag weer. Leek wel of ze last van de kou hadden.
Eind van de middag tegen etenstijd gingen we weer naar het hotel. Tas uitpakken en uitrusten We gingen eten in de Guildford arms. Een pub. Echt een leuke pub. Lekker gegeten.
Na het eten terug naar het hotel. We gingen redelijk op tijd naar bed, Het was een lange dag. Met sneeuwbuien. Het leek wel of de sneeuw ophield als we binnen waren. En het begon weer als we naar buiten gingen!
En morgen gaan we verder met de lopende route van de hop on hop off bus.
Zaterdag 17 Maart. St Patricksday.
Na een goede nachtrust en het ontbijt begonnen we weer met de ,,looproute,,
We liepen naar Carlton hill. Trappen op!! Met het Nelsonmonument. En het city observatory.
Daar boven was het een gure storm. Ik maakte een kleine video met Joce in de hoofdrol en in de wind met sneeuvlokken. Grijs grauw weer helaas.
Trappen trappen Lopen Lopen. We kwamen langs St Andrews house. Een regerings gebouw.
Vlak bij Holyroodhouse ligt het nieuwe Schotse parlementsgebouw. Niet de moeite waard!
We liepen door naar het niet vergelegen winterverblijf van de koningin. Holyroodhouse Daar bezochten we de prive vertrekken. Overal uitleg .
Nergens mocht je foto,s maken. ahum ahum ahum. Prachtig en zeker de moeite waard.
Na Holyroodhouse gingen we naar de dichtbij gelegen Queensgallery.
Prachtig die schilderijen. De geschiedenis druipt er vanaf. The great hall. met 63 schilderijen. Fenomenaal.
Ook hier duurde het een flinke tijd voordat je alles gezien hebt.
Hierna weer de weg op en verder. Canongate waar we koffie met pecancake namen.
Langs Canongate weer naar de royalmile. Dat is JAAAA!!! een mile. We liepen nu op een ander stuk.
We kwamen langs het National museum of Schotland. Viel een beetje tegen. Wel gratis.
Onderweg kwamen een stanbeeld tegen van een hondje. Dat bleef zijn baas trouw na de dood van zijn baas. Het is beroemd geworden. I
n Australia hebbeb ze ook zo iets. Dog on the tuckerbox. De pub etc in de omgeving verwees telkens naar die hongd Grappig Greyfrtiars bobby. Zoek maar op
Via Grassmarket liepen we naar Johnsonterrace. Telkens door de sneeuwbuien en gure wind. Lawnmarket.
Het liep alweer naar het eind van de dag. Terug naar hotel. effe uitrusten.
Daarna liepen we naar een pizzeria voor een pizza Calzone met stiky toffeepudding. Heerlijk
We waren echt moe en blij dat we daarna weer naar het hotel konden. 96 meter terug lopen ha ha
Verders gezien? doedelzakken . mannen in t-shirt. bedelaars. Klein jochie met een doedelzak.

Ik ben weer op pad geweest. Nu met Joyce uit Zoetermeer.
Na zoeken naar iets leuks wat we allebei leuk vonden kwamen we uit op Edinburgh in Schotland.
Donderdag 15 Maart
Na haar werk kwam Joyce al naar mij toe. We moesten de volgende dag vroeg op. Het zou een lange dag worden.
Leuk was de voorpret. Helaas bleek dat het erg koud in Edinburgh was. Net zo koud als hier! Onze tassen waren gepakt Geen koffers maar handbagage. Veel Makkelijker. Niets in te checken.
Vrijdag 16 maart
Vroeg op om 3u45 ging de wekker!! We hadden wel wat gedronken. Ons ontbijt had ik de avond ervoor al gemaakt. Joyce reed de auto naar het parkeerterrein. Daar stond de bus die ons naar Schiphol departures bracht .
We moesten om 5u20 op Schiphol zijn. Onze easyjetvlucht ging om 7u20.
Joyce had ons al ingechecked en we zaten naast elkaar met het looppad tussen ons in. Zo hadden we meer beenruimte. Slim van haar!
Vertek was om 7u20 en aankomst was 7u55. ja ja Schotland loopt een uur achter.
We hadden bus 100 airlink naar ons hotel. eindpunt station Waverlyplace. Vandaar was het 5 min lopen naar ons hotel Apex Waterlooplace.
Het was koud in Edinburg. Ijzig koud zelfs. Er lag nog sneeuw op de heuvels rond de stad. Maar goed....... Niemand kan het weer regelen.
Eerst naar het hotel. Inchecken en pakken uit de bagage wat we nodig hadden.
Daarna op pad. We gingen een wandeling proberen te doen van 2u max. Al snel veranderde de plannen en gingen we de hop on hop off route lopen. En onderweg bekeken we wat de moeite waard zou zijn.
We kwamen uit op the royal mile. EEN lange winkelstraat met winkels, veel souveniershops en pubs.
Via the Northbridge kwamen we bij Edinburg castle . Ja van de tattoo!
Natuurlijk het kasteel in. Daar kwamen we ook voor. Wat een pracht en praal. We deden de hele middag over het kasteel.
Erg indrukwekkend waren de Schotse kroonjuwelen. En de echte lagen er he! Geen replica!
Het kasteel is enorm . De geschiedenis spreekt me aan. Als gebouwen eens praten konden!
De kroonjuwelen. Honours of Scotland.
The Castle gaste,s The Argyle battery. Dat zijn de kanonnen De uitzichten over de stad. Soms wat minder door de vele sneeuwbuien etc.
The gouvernor,s hous. e National warmuseum . st Margarethschapel Mons meg, Een enorm kanon The dog cemetery. Waar alle koninklijke en onderscheidden honden liggen .
TYhe argyle tower.
Ook heeft hier 9 maanden het lichaam van Mary of Lorraine, ega van James V gelegen. Voordat het in Rheims begraven mocht worden. Zij was de moeder van Mary Queen of Scots.
The great hall met zijn wapentuig en harnasssen.
The Scottisch national warmuseum.
Etc etc etc etc Er is zoveel te zien. En de toegangsprijs was prachtig. ongeveer 17 gbp.
Trouwens het geld wat je hier nodig hebt is de Engelse pond. De Schotse pond hebben we nooit nodig gehad. Hoef je ook niet te halen als je geld nodig hebt. Alleen Engelse ponden dus.!
We hadden de hele middag nodig voor het kasteel.
Na het bezoek gingen we naar de shop voor scones met jam en clotted cream. Heerlijk.We gingen eer naar de Royal mile. Onderweg natuurlijk shops kijken etc We hadden coffee in een burittobar.
Onderweg zagen we wel vaak bedelaars liggen op straat. Ingepakt tegen de kou. Ook heel gek. We zagen mensen lopen in T-shirt , op blote voeten in korte broek. Elke dag weer. Leek wel of ze last van de kou hadden.
Eind van de middag tegen etenstijd gingen we weer naar het hotel. Tas uitpakken en uitrusten We gingen eten in de Guildford arms. Een pub. Echt een leuke pub. Lekker gegeten.
Na het eten terug naar het hotel. We gingen redelijk op tijd naar bed, Het was een lange dag. Met sneeuwbuien. Het leek wel of de sneeuw ophield als we binnen waren. En het begon weer als we naar buiten gingen!
En morgen gaan we verder met de lopende route van de hop on hop off bus.
Zaterdag 17 Maart. St Patricksday.
Na een goede nachtrust en het ontbijt begonnen we weer met de ,,looproute,,
We liepen naar Carlton hill. Trappen op!! Met het Nelsonmonument. En het city observatory.
Daar boven was het een gure storm. Ik maakte een kleine video met Joce in de hoofdrol en in de wind met sneeuvlokken. Grijs grauw weer helaas.
Trappen trappen Lopen Lopen. We kwamen langs St Andrews house. Een regerings gebouw.
Vlak bij Holyroodhouse ligt het nieuwe Schotse parlementsgebouw. Niet de moeite waard!
We liepen door naar het niet vergelegen winterverblijf van de koningin. Holyroodhouse Daar bezochten we de prive vertrekken. Overal uitleg .
Nergens mocht je foto,s maken. ahum ahum ahum. Prachtig en zeker de moeite waard.
Na Holyroodhouse gingen we naar de dichtbij gelegen Queensgallery.
Prachtig die schilderijen. De geschiedenis druipt er vanaf. The great hall. met 63 schilderijen. Fenomenaal.
Ook hier duurde het een flinke tijd voordat je alles gezien hebt.
Hierna weer de weg op en verder. Canongate waar we koffie met pecancake namen.
Langs Canongate weer naar de royalmile. Dat is JAAAA!!! een mile. We liepen nu op een ander stuk.
We kwamen langs het National museum of Schotland. Viel een beetje tegen. Wel gratis.
Onderweg kwamen een stanbeeld tegen van een hondje. Dat bleef zijn baas trouw na de dood van zijn baas. Het is beroemd geworden. I
n Australia hebbeb ze ook zo iets. Dog on the tuckerbox. De pub etc in de omgeving verwees telkens naar die hongd Grappig Greyfrtiars bobby. Zoek maar op
Via Grassmarket liepen we naar Johnsonterrace. Telkens door de sneeuwbuien en gure wind. Lawnmarket.
Het liep alweer naar het eind van de dag. Terug naar hotel. effe uitrusten.
Daarna liepen we naar een pizzeria voor een pizza Calzone met stiky toffeepudding. Heerlijk
We waren echt moe en blij dat we daarna weer naar het hotel konden. 96 meter terug lopen ha ha
Verders gezien? doedelzakken . mannen in t-shirt. bedelaars. Klein jochie met een doedelzak.
