We are in Katherine

Hi All Its been awhile since I got on the net, well I have been but behind the scenes. I've been doing the typing while Aad dictates. So now it is my time to do some english writing. We are in Katherine, first time since 1998 and the town has changed. Don't recognise much at all really.Had an overnight on the camping in the Gorge.It will be something that I will be constantly be repeating it is very HOT. Last night we couoldn't sleep through the heat, all doors windows of the van open, we in our undies and wet towels over over bodies and still HOT. At one stage we thought someone was photographing us we saw light flashes:) but it was lightning in the distance.:) This morning got up early to do a walk of about 5.5 ks. It was already very hot, we had lots of water with us of course. Half way through after looking at various lookouts and climbing to them I felt so hot that I said to Aad that I was going back, we came across a couple of rangers and after gettin some cool down advice from them I did finish the trail. Don't ask how I looked with a wet towel on my head and my hat on top of that, but like I said to Aad I'm not walking for a fashion show. When we got back to our starting point we saw that it was predicted to be 47 degrees in the gorge at midday. Phew, cooking time of the brain I would say if you went at that time. After 2 hours walk we had a nice cool drink in the visitors center, and good swim in off in the pool,we got out fast when a couple of car loads of the local folk came and just jumped with clothes and all in the pool at least 20 of them so pool was incredibly full with dirty stinking bodies, All the white folk got out pretty fast. We had wanted to do a canoe trip but decided to go into town internet and we will be driving to Edith Falls later. On the radio we heard that it would be 37 degrees today.Tomorrow onto Pine Creek where we will be picking up Tiemen who will join us in our trip into Kakado and Litchfield parks. Hope to be in Darwin by the 10th but at the latest 12th Okt.
All is going fine, the roads are not as good as in WA but we have to travel them. Allowed to drive 130ks here but I wonder how to do that with the roads being in such disrepair. Our overnight free campings are very different too. No toilet paper and the dunnys are very full. When you sit, if you dare to sit the muck almost touches your bum, so hold on and wait until we get into a town or go behind a big bush/tree.
But all in all it is still a fantastic trip, there has not been one day that I have said oh I wish I didn't do that, even the places that have not been as interesting as others have still been worthwhile to go to, even if it is to get your our opinion on it. It has been and still is great to meet people on camping spots and share experiences with them and get thier experiences back.
